About Me

My name is Michael Utz, and I'm one of the luckiest bastards on earth. I'm fortunate to share my life with my lovely, talented, beautiful wife Begüm. We've got two young kids—Duncan and Ada—who fill our lives with joy while simultaneously draining us of all our remaining life energy.

I was born in the suburbs of Seattle, Washington in the United States and spent my first few decades there. But since meeting my Turkish wife in Nashville, my life has taken a decidedly more global trajectory. Together we moved to Helsinki, Finland for a few years, and then to Türkiye where we live today.

I studied music in college and had the good fortune of graduating into the Great Recession, where I quickly had to figure out how to actually make a living. My passion for technology, my curiosity, and my appreciation of design attracted me to web development. I've been teaching myself all about computers and the Internet ever since, and I love it.
